Utopias, projects and goals

The different professional expertises and the cultural skills of the members of the Cooperative have enriched the group; now the activities are planned as projects and goals.

The magazine

The first goal was to publish the monthly magazine on a regular basis which reports about the problems of the area in which it is distributed (actually that area is called "zona 7", following the city administration), with great attention to the positive skills that the volunteer activity could bring.
The magazine has about 700 subscribers and has been published for 31 years.

The Parco delle Cave

Together with other associations as Unione Pescatori Aurora, Associatione Cava Bersagliere and some farmers, we decided to create the Parco delle Cave when the Milan Municipality was still not interested in the project. For details please see the book "Gli Ottant’anni della Cava Vegia" published by Il diciotto with a contribution of the Consiglio di Zona 7 (Milan Municipality, Council of the Area 7).

Il Gabbiano

We are proud too, with all the citizens of Baggio, for having helped the association "Il Gabbiano noi come gli altri" for offering assistance to the physically challenged.

Sant’Apollinare’s Old Church bell tower

The restoration work of the Sant’Apollinare’s Old Church bell tower ended in 2009. A goal achieved after 20 years during which we had collected historical, structural and static data. And thanks to the static documentation put together it was also possible to learn more about the monument. In June 2007, when Milan’s major, Letizia Moratti, visited the Associazione Il gabbiano, it was possible to provide her with a detailed documentation about the bell tower asking for her help.

Thanks to the cooperation of Fondazione Banca Del Monte it was possible to start with the restoration project through the Formica company. During the restoration the basement was found to date back to the 4th Century.

Il Marchiondi

We dispose of photos about the laying of the first stone of the Marchiondi Institute building, designed by architect Vittoriano Vigano, and more recent photos about its abandonment. With regard to this, we have published different articles in order to convince the Milan Municipality to restore the building and to find another use for it. We are now following up on the scheduled restoration by the Politecnico.

The Cascina Linterno

The future of Cascina Linterno, via Fratelli Zoia, is not clear again. Since 1980 we have been following the projects and the possible evolution with the Association "Amici della Cascina Linterno".

The archive

We have all the accounting documents of the Baggio Municipality from 1860 to 1923. We had to discover what was on that area before the houses and the new building rose up, and the main characteristics of the previous administration. We have compiled a photographic archive with more than 7,000 images, most of them dated between 1890 and 1930. Our archive collects copies of documents related to Cascina Monastero (built in the 15th century), Forni real estate owners (year 1826), Cabella and Negrini families and the organ of Baggio, famous for its saying.
